Fringe | Zomertank: All that we have here is all that we’ve always had
Between centre and margin
Commissioned by Werktank, curators Dusica Drazic and Wim Janssen (Out of Sight) dug into the spatial history of Kessel-Lo. As a result, they developed a project that showcases our notions of the margins and centre in dynamic collaboration with residents, the community centre, Leuven partner organisations, and policymakers.
For All that we have here is all that we’ve always had, the focus shifts to Kessel-Lo (Leuven). We approach it as a case study archiving changes and traces of the neighbourhood’s continuous transition – from farmland to industry and later to post-industrial suburbia.
The product of several field studies, a long string of conversations with residents, small shopkeepers, and policymakers in collaboration with Werktank, we developed an in-situ project that brings our notions of the margins and centre to the fore. We collaborate with participating artists to explore how the environment can be redefined.
With the support of City of Leuven, the Flemish Government, the Polish Cultural Institute, and Fringe Festival. In partnership with Casablanca Community Centre.
