The Off Hours. A Continuation of ‘The Migration Of The Wings’
Jill Magid Installation
The Last Supper by Dieric Bouts - one of Leuven's most iconic works of art - is temporarily moving from Saint Peter's Church to M Leuven for the major retrospective exhibition DIERIC BOUTS. Creator of images. Meanwhile, in the church, the multimedia installation The Off Hours will be on display: a contemplation in image and sound on the triptych's dismantling and forced migration.
About the installation
The Off Hours follows the movements of the Holy Sacrament triptych, which was dismembered in 1707, when the central panel was stripped of its wings. In modern history, the outer panels have been treated, both legally and by force, as German and Belgian war reparations. Through sound, image, and sculpture, themes of exile and diaspora, war and repatriation, and the resonance of violence echo throughout the church.
