Ocean Of Sound | Andrea Belfi / Adriaan de Roover / Casimir Geelhoed

Andrea Belfi is an Italian drummer and composer based in Berlin. As a drummer, he is extraordinarily virtuosic: his hyper-fast drum rolls and repetitive rhythms brings the listener into a state of trance. The acoustic percussion blends seamlessly with electronic effects, crackling noise and buzzing synth tones. Not surprisingly Belfi has toured with Thom Yorke and collaborated with world renown artists such as Nils Frahm, Mouse on Mars and Jóhann Jóhannsson. Last year, Belfi created his first concert in 4DSOUND, commissioned by Monom and CTM Festival in Berlin.

Adriaan de Roover is a Belgian musician and composer of electroacoustic music. Since 2013, he has released work - as Oaktree and under his own name - through labels such as [PIAS], Dauw and Consouling. Adriaan has written music for installations, dance and theatre (including Aïda Gabriels). He also has a monthly radio show on Kiosk. With his versatile approach, Adriaan easily finds his way to arts spaces, concert halls as well as nightclubs. Especially for Ocean Of Sound, he will create a new composition for 4DSOUND, for which he will do a residency at Monom in Berlin.

Casimir Geelhoed is a Dutch composer specialised in 4DSOUND. His piece Scatter, Swarm, Sublimate connects methodologies of noise music, counterpoint and spatial sound, making expressive usage of the perceptual tipping point at which individually perceivable sound sources melt into indefinable overarching sound masses. His performance aims to convey beauty and hope through dazzling environments of overstimulation, interspersed by moments of fleeting clarity; a sublime surrender.
