Fringe | Kenzo Tokuoka
Resident circus and land artist
From 1 to 9 December, the Franco-Japanese circus and land artist – Kenzo Tokuoka – will take up residence in Cas-co’s theatre. During his stay, there will be several opportunities to experience try-outs and experiments rooted in his acrobatic land art practice.
Kenzo Tokuoka has been a circus artist for over fifteen years and has redefined the art through his unique Japanese heritage. He swaps traditional circus props for natural elements such as bamboo canes. And this creates a whole new universe of artistic expression.
Kenzo coalesces nature, art, and human prowess into elegant harmony. Acrobatic land art invites you to regard the familiar from a new perspective. Discover the beauty of the ephemeral and the power that manifests when artist, object, and environment engage.
Join Kenzo during his try-outs as he acrobatically explores ‘Makaban’, a bamboo pole construction of his own design. Kenzo will also open his research lab to the public for three days.
